From when Plucky, Axel, and I first arrived on this island escorted by the Nooklings, and Tom Nook outlined his plans to turn this into a habitable paradise, I admit to thinking that things would be slow going. That it would just be the three of us and the Nooks for quite some time. I’m happy to be proven wrong, and development of this island is really starting to show. A museum has come to the island, as has a tailor shop, with the Nooklings also opening up their own store. Even the Resident Services tent has now become a building, where the speakers play some relaxing and energetic music every hour that changes depending on the time. More villagers have come to stay, and our goal of making Halesowen a popular tourist destination – and popular place to live – is soon to be reaching its final stages. These ten days have been a wild and exciting journey of new developments and meeting new people, and I guess the story continues from where I left off with the new arrivals. Having been exploring the mystery islands with Dodo Airlines, I came across a cute hamster named Apple. Since the fruit native to Halesowen are apples, I felt it fitting and invited her to stay at Halesowen. Three plots of land had already been marked out for new houses to be built, so the next day she had moved in. A koala named Melba and a goat named Sherb also moved here over the next two days, which meant there were now six of us living on the island and making it a happy place to be. With everyone happy, Resident Services upgraded to a building, complete with a new permanent member of the island. Isabelle came to help out Tom Nook with daily resident life, while Tom opened up a larger range of infrastructure tools that meant we could place more bridges of different varieties, along with slopes and stairs to reach higher levels without use of a ladder. There’s not much up on those higher levels, though, so bridges are currently my priority as Resident Representative, along with making the place look a whole lot nicer. There’re so many things that the other villagers enjoy doing. Fitness seems to be a big thing around here, with Axel usually the one to be found out on the plaza dancing or stretching. Others can usually be found running around at times, too. If they aren’t around the plaza, they’ll be doing other things. They will sometimes be relaxing under trees, or else reading on the seats that are around. Sometimes they’ll be fishing (though they seem never catch anything) or hunting for bugs (and I wish they wouldn’t when I’m doing the same thing, as those on flowers scare so easily). Oh, and sometimes they’ll give me random furniture that they think will look nice around the island, but usually I dump it near to their house if I feel it isn’t up to my standards. After all, I don’t think a drying rack is something that will bring tourists flocking to the island, is it? Upon adding a campsite to the island, another hamster arrived. I’m not sure I like Rodney all that much, but I invited him to stay on the island in a house of his own. More work followed in finding places for more residents to stay, and while on another mystery tour, I bumped into Rolf, a tiger who I remember from a previous town. I immediately asked him if he wanted to come live at Halesowen, and he accepted. He’s arriving soon, once Rocco has made himself at home. I didn’t invite the hippo, but I guess I can’t choose everyone who comes to stay here. I can’t really say much about him, but we’ll see what he’s like once he’s finished moving in. I’d been setting up some more things around Halesowen to prepare for more residents to move here when I heard about a meteor shower happening on another island. This island is named Chaos, whose Resident Representative had put out the call for other people to come visit and watch the shooting stars fall. It was proving a popular destination, but I waited for the call as I worked some more, and soon was heading over there. It was a fun night, exploring another island while having a chat with those around as we watched the shooting stars and wished upon them. I visited the Nookling’s store while there to see some interesting things, and also sold off a load of apples there to make some great money. Visiting that island was an enjoyable experience, meeting with human and animal villagers alike and seeing some fun styles that the other Resident Representatives had fashioned for themselves. I’m hoping for more experiences like that one soon, and I’m going to put out a call for others to come to my island soon enough. I want to see what others think of this island, before it sees a complete overhaul with the options I hope to be gaining within the next week to change the lay of the land and have this place looking completely different.
There won’t be any more of these entries here, but I’ll still be sending out photos for all to see the developments of Halesowen Island.
